Google Rolls Out Gemini in Chrome for UK Users, iPhone Support Coming Next Month

Google is continuing to expand the reach of its AI-powered browsing assistant, Gemini in Chrome. The company has now started rolling out the feature to users in the United Kingdom (UK). After making its debut in the United States last year, Gemini in Chrome has gradually expanded to several countries. Google has also confirmed that support for iOS devices will be introduced next month.

UK Desktop Users Now Have Access

According to Google’s latest support documentation, desktop users in the UK can now access Gemini in Chrome. The feature was previously launched in India, where it was introduced with support for eight Indian languages.

Gemini in Chrome is designed to enhance the browsing experience by making it easier for users to interact with web content. It can summarize lengthy articles, simplify complex topics, compare information across multiple browser tabs, and answer questions about the current webpage. The biggest advantage is that users can perform all of these tasks without leaving the page they are viewing.

The AI assistant works directly with content from the active browser tab and is currently available only to users who are 18 years of age or older.

Integrated With Google’s Popular Services

Gemini in Chrome goes beyond answering questions about webpages. It is also integrated with several Google services, allowing users to complete tasks without interrupting their browsing.

Users can schedule meetings in Google Calendar, view locations in Google Maps, draft emails in Gmail, and even ask questions about YouTube videos without leaving the current webpage.

In addition, Gemini remembers the context of previous conversations, enabling it to provide more personalized and accurate responses over time. The feature also includes Nano Banana 2, which allows users to edit or transform images found on the web using simple text prompts.

Built With Security and Privacy in Mind

Google says the AI features in Gemini have been developed with security as a top priority. According to the company, the system can detect known threats such as prompt injection attacks. It also includes safeguards that require user confirmation before performing any sensitive actions.

Gemini in Chrome Continues Global Expansion

Since its initial launch in the United States, Google has expanded Gemini in Chrome to several regions, including Canada, New Zealand, India, Africa, and the Middle East. With the rollout now reaching the UK and iOS support arriving next month, the company is continuing to make its AI-powered browsing experience available to more users worldwide.

On desktop, Gemini can analyze content from the current webpage and, with the user’s permission, access information from up to 10 open browser tabs to provide more comprehensive and accurate responses. However, the feature is currently available only to users who are 18 years or older.
