Disney Plus Just Got Way More Expensive! Are You Ready to Pay More

Starting October 21, 2025, Disney Plus is hiking its subscription prices again. The ad-supported plan jumps to $11.99/month, while the ad-free plan shoots up to $18.99/month. Several bundles are also getting pricier. Let’s break down the new rates, why Disney is raising prices, and how users are reacting.

New Prices – What’s Changing?

Straight from Mickey Mouse’s house—Disney Plus is now more expensive.

  • Ad-supported plan: $11.99/month (up from $9.99)
  • Ad-free plan: $18.99/month (up from $15.99)

That’s a direct $3 increase!

Annual subscriptions also jumped from $159.99 to $189.99. Most bundles are now pricier too, though the Disney+ & Hulu (No Ads) bundle still holds at $19.99.

Why the Price Hike?

Disney says the cost of creating content is rising, and the streaming industry is changing fast. In simple terms—Marvel battles and Pixar emotional adventures don’t come cheap.

The company has recently made its streaming business profitable. But now, that magic comes at a cost—your wallet!

Other major streaming services like Netflix, Max, Apple TV+, and Peacock have also raised prices recently. So, it’s becoming a trend across the industry.

Users Are Not Happy – Social Media Explodes

Subscribers are not thrilled. On Twitter and Instagram, many are jokingly calling it “The Rise of Disney’s Profits.” Some users said they might switch to Netflix or other platforms instead.

The hashtag #UnsubscribeParty is trending. Disney’s ABC network and the Jimmy Kimmel suspension controversy also add fuel to the fire.

One funny reaction read:

“$19 for Pixar? No thanks. Kids can just watch Cars on Blu-ray again.”

Bad Timing

Disney announced the hike at a tricky time—amid controversies like Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension and boycott campaigns.

Fans are joking:

“It’s like tripping over your shoelaces and then announcing your shoes now cost double.”

Some admit this might be the moment they finally rotate their subscriptions.
