Dhamaal 4 Movie Review: Outdated Formula, Flat Comedy, and Excessive CGI Hold Back Ajay Devgn’s Latest Adventure

Director Indra Kumar returns with the fourth installment of the Dhamaal franchise, hoping to recreate the laughter that made the series popular. However, Dhamaal 4 falls short of expectations, relying on recycled jokes, excessive CGI, and a straightforward treasure-hunt storyline that struggles to keep the audience engaged.

The original Dhamaal, released in 2007, became a major hit thanks to its lighthearted slapstick comedy and strong ensemble cast. While Double Dhamaal and Total Dhamaal continued with the same formula, Dhamaal 4 offers very little that feels new or memorable.

A Familiar Adventure With Few Surprises

The story revolves around pirates, hidden treasure, and another adventurous quest. The familiar group of characters once again sets out in search of a legendary treasure, but the journey feels repetitive and lacks originality.

Although the film starts on a promising note, the narrative gradually loses momentum. There are very few twists or memorable moments that keep viewers invested throughout the runtime.

Strong Performances, Weak Writing

Ajay Devgn returns in an action-packed role, performing daring rescue missions, ship sequences, and large-scale stunts that reinforce his heroic image.

Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaaferi once again showcase their well-known comic chemistry, while Sanjay Mishra delivers humor in his signature style. Despite the cast’s sincere efforts, the screenplay doesn’t provide enough fresh material for them to truly shine.

Among the new additions, Ravi Kishan emerges as the standout performer. Playing a pirate-inspired character reminiscent of Captain Jack Sparrow, he brings lively comic timing and energetic screen presence, delivering some of the film’s few genuinely entertaining moments.

Comedy That Feels Repetitive

The film introduces several new characters, but most of the humor fails to make an impact. Many jokes involving Anjali Anand’s character revolve around her body weight, making the comedy feel outdated and uncomfortable for today’s audience. Although the film later attempts to soften this approach, the change comes too late to leave a meaningful impression.

Most of the laughs depend on exaggerated situations, while clever writing and fresh comic ideas are largely missing.

Heavy CGI Overshadows the Story

The film relies extensively on computer-generated visual effects. Digital animals, grand landscapes, and large-scale action sequences often dominate the screen, sometimes distracting from the story instead of enhancing it.

As the film approaches its finale, it shifts toward an emotional conclusion, but the humor fades away. The climax ultimately lacks the entertainment value audiences have come to expect from the Dhamaal franchise.
